What
is the Oncology Counseling Service? Being able to talk to someone about
cancer is often as important as the clinical treatment of the disease. If patients
have the opportunity to vent feelings like anger, apprehension and depression
with someone they trust, it may have a positive effect on them emotionally as
well as physically. Counseling is an important part of cancer treatment. Individual,
confidential appointments are available for the cancer patient, family and friends.
Some typical concerns are: - Living with cancer
- Adjusting your lifestyle
- Body changes and image
- Handling the effects of treatment
- Marital and
family strains
- Bereavement
- Depression
- Communicating with family and
friends
- Emotional adjustment
- Facing your own mortality
